Why are the birds gone?

If you’ve come to the language lab within the past two weeks, you will notice that the birds are no longer in the main space. We have been asked to contain them by Keith Watkins, the head of facilities, as well as the Head of Environmental Safety and Health, in order to ensure the safety and well being of all members of our community. People have reportedly felt uncomfortable and unsafe with them out and loose in the lab.

They are now in the office of the CILC director, Barbara Sawhill. You can visit them if she is there, but you won’t be able to take them out of their cage or into the lab area. If you have questions, please ask one of the labbies or talk to Barbara Sawhill directly.

  1. This is not right. If we put life in a cage every single time it flows and flies, it will die out and this campus will look like a hospital or a bank.
