Installing World of Warcraft

Installing World of Warcraft is a pain. Luckily, it's already installed for you on all CILC lab machines. So have no fear, technology is here!

If you're installing a copy of WoW on your own machine, you'll need your own copy of the European discs. Important: Installing a US copy will only allow you to play on US servers, not with the rest of the Language Lab or any of the CILC's characters.

Installing a fresh copy isn't hard by any means, but don't expect to be playing immediately! Installing is followed by...patching!

Blizzard is constantly adding, modifying and fixing game content, which means that players will need to download regular patches, or updates. Some of these are quite large (exceeding 1 gigabyte in size). Don't worry about the lab machines, though--patches are taken care of automatically on the administrative end.
