Jessie Douglas graduated from Oberlin in 2012 with a degree in Mathematics. She speaks Spanish and Russian, and she has a Master of Arts in Teaching from Duke University. As an Oberlin student, she was the grade level coordinator for 3rd grade as a part of the SITES program.
As an Oberlin student, I taught with SITES and took Russian classes. As a high school teacher in an area with a burgeoning Hispanic population (Raleigh-Durham, NC), I use Spanish to connect and communicate with students and parents. The resource most helpful to me as a student was the SITES program, and all that comes with it: meetings and language pedagogy training with Darcy Rogers.
