Whoa. That was a mouthful.

The last Techno Tuesday for the semester will happen today at 3:30 in Peters 327 (note: our presenter cannot make the 12:15-1 time slot)

This session is for teachers of languages, but other faculty are more than welcome to attend!

We will be joined by Felix Kronenberg, formerly of Pomona College, now an assistant professor of German and Director of the Language Center at Rhodes College.

While at Pomona, Felix was the catalyst behind the NITLE-funded Language Technology BootCamp… a series of training and sharing sessions as well as the frequently updated BootCamp Manual that lists recommended technologies for the language teacher.

You can read more about BootCamp here: Feel free to download the manual and bring it to the session ( although the manual is an interactive pdf with embedded media so it is more useful in its digital form!)

If you are trying to plan a final review exercise that is not just fill in the blank but more production-based, if you want to provide more opportunities for your students to create in the target language, or if you want an alternative to powerpoint for student presentations, this session should be of interest.

Please come and meet Felix (he will be coming in via ichat or Skype) and talk with him about some of the new tools that are available for language teachers and learners.

As always, refreshing beverages will be provided

Hope to see you this afternoon in Peters 327!

While students have been recording lectures since the advent of the portable tape recorder, the advancements in digital recording abd the districbution of said materials over the internet have taken the process to an entirely new level. Web based services such as iTunesU, the Internet Archive and YouTube EDU allow students to access lectures, labs and more from most any location any time they wish.

Peter Naegele has been capturing lectures and labs at Oberlin since 2004. He will be speaking about the process, the changes in technology, and the challenges and victories he has experienced along the way.

Come and join him! Bring a lunch, we will provide the beverages.

Today from 12:15-1 and then again from 3:30-4:15 in Peters 327, we will be joined (virtually) by The Right Reverend Dr. Jim Groom of the University of Mary Washington for a conversation about blogging…what it is, what it isn’t, and how it can be used in teaching and learning.

Jim, who coined the phrase (battlecry?) and the mindset of EDUPUNK, will bring his tree-hugging charm and wit and grit (and probably his Yankees hat as well) to this session, and explain why he believes blogs (in particular WordPress Multi User blogs) can change teaching and learning forever.

Ever asked yourself “What Would Jim Groom Do ?” Well, now you can find out.

Bring your lunch…we will provide the beverages.
