Language teaching staff and other members of the teaching community, please join us at 12:15 today (the 24th) and 12:30 on Thursday (the 27th) in Peters 327 for the second installment of our weekly Language and Technology Brownbag conversations.
Bring your lunch…we will provide the drinks.
This weeks’ topic: BLOGGING
What is a blog? What is the difference between a blog and a discussion board? Are there different types of blogging tools? How have they been used at Oberlin in language classes? Okay fine, but how do you grade this stuff and are the students really learning? A lively conversation will undoubtedly ensue…
Hope to see you this week!

We have begun (thanks to one of our nimble language lab assistants, Benji) to download SCOLA digital videos of news broadcasts and then posting them on the “Language Lab” sites on Blackboard for the languages we support. Once in the Bb LangLab site, click on the SCOLA tab and off you go.
New broadcasts will be uploaded every Sunday.
If you have questions, please leave a comment below!

In order to make the audio recording process easier, we’ve attached headsets with microphones to all of the desktop computers in the Center. You should no longer have to do the hokey pokey while standing on your head to record audio - that’s right, no more fiddling with sound settings! Just walk up to any desktop, open DL Recorder, and hit Record.
At least, we hope that’s how it’ll work. Please help us out by notifying the Lab Assistant on duty if you have –any– problems or questions. Happy Monday!

If you have a Mac laptop and need a connector for the projector in the smart classrooms or for the smart carts, we need to ask that you check one out from the circulation desk in the ILC. These adapters cost about $25-$30 a piece and they have been disappearing from the smart rooms and carts more often than we care to admit. To ensure that one is available when you need it, please check these items out from the ILC.
As always, let us know if you have any questions!
